Part of the Angus Community
We work closely with local schools, groups, and organisations. Whether it’s partnering on projects, welcoming groups to the site, or supporting volunteers, we’re ready to work with everyone to make a stronger community for the people of Angus.
If you come for a walk, a cuppa, to volunteer, an event, or an outdoor learning experience, Murton is here for you. We’re proud to be a space where nature, community, and opportunity come together — helping people feel supported, inspired, and connected.
Come As You Are — Everyone’s Welcome
One of the things we’re most proud of is that our nature reserve is open seven days a week — completely free. From peaceful lochs and wetlands to woodlands full of wildlife, it’s the perfect place to reset, wander, or enjoy time with family and friends.
We’ve worked hard to make Murton accessible and affordable so that everyone can enjoy what we offer. Whether you’re exploring the paths, visiting the animals, or simply relaxing with a coffee, we want you to feel at home here.
Our outdoor classroom and Tipi are used by schools, youth groups, families, and organisations for learning, playing, and discovering nature together. They’re brilliant spaces for making memories.

Nature Just Makes You Feel Good
We all know that being outdoors is good for us — and Murton brings that to life. Spending time in nature helps reduce stress, boosts mood, and gives people of all ages a chance to slow down.
From Health Walks to Murton Tots sessions and our Meet the Animals events, we run plenty of activities that get people moving, chatting, learning, and smiling. They’re simple, fun, and packed with the kind of little moments you remember.

A Place to Learn Without the Pressure
For young people, Murton is a place to get hands-on, try real outdoor skills, and discover what they’re capable of. We offer recognised qualifications, work experience, and activities that boost teamwork, confidence, problem‑solving, and leadership. It’s been great to see more and more young people getting involved — especially during term time and weekends.
Adults come to Murton for lots of reasons too. Many join us as volunteers, finding that being outdoors and part of a team helps with wellbeing, routine, and building new skills. It’s a relaxed, friendly way to connect with others and feel part of something positive.
