Can you help us track the butterflies at Murton? We would be delighted if you could help us monitor the health of our environment simply by counting the amount and types of butterflies you see during your visit. Butterflies are important indicators of a healthy ecosystem, and your observations can make a real difference.
Below you will find two Butterfly Guides to support you.
Our 2025 Butterfly Guide, featured above, has been developed using recent on-site observations and monitoring. It highlights the species most commonly recorded at Murton and provides helpful identification information.
Further below, you will also find our Butterfly Checklist, designed especially for visitors who would like to download and print it to use during their walk around the reserve. It’s a simple and practical way to record what you see. Printed copies are also available in the tearoom.
You can return your completed checklist to us or share your photographs on social media using #murtonbutterflies. Every sighting helps us build a clearer picture of the changing health of our natural environment.
Thank you for being part of our butterfly conservation efforts — we truly appreciate your support.
