Tea Room

We are now in our winter hours. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm. The tearoom and farm are closed Mon/Tue however you can still walk round the nature reserve. Car park gates are closed at 4.30pm. The staff and volunteers look forward to welcoming you.

Murton Tea Room is the ideal place for you to take time out to relax or to meet a friend for coffee or lunch. If you don’t have time to sit down and enjoy our beautiful surroundings then we offer a tasty take-away menu. We do not take bookings for our tearoom. When you visit, one of our team will greet you and show you to a table where we offer full table service. If you would like to sit outdoors please let us know.

 

We serve a delicious range of home cooking and baking, including scrumptious soups and daily specials. Our renowned fresh scones are made every morning. We pride ourselves in using as much locally sourced and seasonal produce in our dishes as we can and our menu will change regularly to reflect this.

We have something for everyone including breakfasts, light lunches, daily specials, sweet treats and of course, something for the kids including our ice lolly cabinet.

We do all we can to accommodate allergies. We always have a selection of gluten free options, savoury and sweet, as well as dairy free options where possible. Please speak to a member of staff if you have dietary requirements.

 

The tea room is situated at the edge of the farm, with a lovely view across the pond. At the front, overlooking the farm, we have a large decked area where you can enjoy your meal al-fresco, and a large picnic area for you to also enjoy take-away food or your own picnic.

 

The tearoom serves hot food until 3pm and hot/cold drinks and sweet treats until 4pm. We are sure you will love our tearoom with a view.

Gift Shop and Veg Hut

Gift Shop

The tearoom has a small sales area which showcases the range of items that are produced by local crafts people. We also have a range of items that are produced by the young people taking part in our vocational training programmes and by students at the local schools. These include bird boxes and nut feeders and can be found in the wooden goods hut outside the tearoom. We also sell delightful and unique children’s toys and gifts.

Veg Hut and Local Produce

You will find seasonal fruit and vegetables, eggs and locally produced honey at Murton. Soup bags ready to go are always popular and you will find special additions depending the time of year, from pumpkins to wreaths and Christmas trees. Got a sweet tooth? Head into the tearoom to find out what fresh sweet treat gifts there are on offer ready to take home.

Facilities

Our ever growing site has a number of facilities to help you enjoy your day.

  • We have ample free parking at Murton. The car park is situated next to the Tearoom with the farm and reserve on either side.
  • Disabled Parking
  • Toilets including 4 outdoor access toilets and disabled facilities
  • Nappy changing. We also carry a small supply of nappies and wipes
  • Free WiFi within our Tearoom
  • Our Tearoom and decking area is wheelchair accessible
  • The Reserve boasts seating areas and shelters are regular intervals around the path network.
  • Three bird hides located on the Reserve
  • Picnic area directly outside the Tearoom
  • Multi-purpose building (Rural Skills Centre) as a venue hire
  • Classroom/Activities Room as a hire venue
  • Tipi, outdoor shelter and fire pit as a hire venue
